Over the last 11 years, the United States has become increasingly concerned over the potential use of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in either military conflict or possible terrorist attack within the boundaries of America. The documented use of terrorists using Chemical and Biological weapons around the world has heightened public attention to the vulnerability of the U.S. to attack domestically. The potential use of WMD on American soil forces federal, state and local governments, commercial industry and private businesses to review and update their domestic counter-terrorism preparedness plans. Add to that the potential of unexpected natural disasters and the risk of disruption to business and our way of life have substantially increased. Comprehensive updated plans must take advantage of innovative technology, highly advanced techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to identify and counter the threat of terrorism and natural disaster.
